Kitt Jackson will be receiving the Evelyn C. Stone Lifetime Achievement Award on October 22nd, 2025 at the Capital Area Council of Churches Fall Awards Celebration Dinner.
Born in Buffalo, Kitt graduated from UAlbany and Indiana University, then taught French and Spanish in several Capital District schools. She and her late husband, Larry, raised two children in Berne. A long-time member of Altamont Reformed Church, Kitt has served as elder, teacher, retreat leader, and chaired the Benevolence Committee for 25+ years. She has been a preaching elder since 1995 and currently serves as Moderator of the Reformed Church in America Commission on Christian Unity. Kitt joined the staff of the Capital Area Council of Churches in 1997. During her 17 years as the Administrative Director of the Council, she was part of the CROP Hunger Walk Committee, eventually becoming its chair. Kitt's efforts have kept the John U. Miller CROP Walk in the top 10 nationwide; in 2025 the CROP Walk raised over $104,500.
Planning is already underway for the walk in 2026. Want to make a difference? Grab friends, family members, or coworkers to form a team and walk to end hunger locally, nationally, and internationally.
